Flightdeck Air Combat Center Just Gets Even Better!
Flightdeck Air Combat Center, consistently proclaimed as a “must-do-when-in-Southern California”, announced that beginning after the Labor Day weekend, there will be new and improved (what, you expected unimproved?) flight missions available along with a new fall schedule for flight times.
For customer convenience and crew efficiency both new flight times will be 60 minutes in length. Scientific testing concluded that 60 minutes was the optimal time for customers to be in the F-16 military flight simulators. The factor that will determine which of the two newly designed flights customers will be able to fly will be if the customer has flown at Flightdeck Air Combat Center before.
The “Fox 1″ flight has been especially designed for first time pilots and includes an airport take off, practice time for aerial maneuvers (to enhance competitiveness in the air-to-air phase of their mission), dogfighting with other pilots in their flight, followed by two attempts at an airport landing as well as two attempts at making an aircraft carrier trap. The former 60 minute mission had but one attempt at the carrier landing. Two attempts will double one’s chances of staying dry (hence the improvement)!
The “Fox 2″ Mission is specifically designed for returning pilots and, with one major exception, strongly resembles the Fox 1 mission. While the first-time pilots (aka “Newbies”) are practicing their aerial maneuvers, the Fox 2 pilots will be doing an daring air-to-ground strike mission using their 2.75 FFAR (folded-fin aircraft rocket) ordinance against a variety of vital and exposed ground targets (yet another significant improvement)! Returning pilots also may choose from a variety of jets for flights #3 through their entry into a squadron program (should they choose).
The new flight time schedule can be found on Flightdeck’s web page. The initial flight Wednesday through Friday will be 1:00 pm with the final flight at 7:00 pm and flights every 90 minutes in between. Saturday’s schedule adds an 11:30 am flight as well as an 8:30 pm flight with Sunday adding only the 11:30 am flight to the standard mid-week schedule. Flightdeck will be closed to the public on Mondays and only open on Tuesdays to corporate and other group events.
